Don’t sweat the technique

Backstory:

Mary Scanlan is Woody Creek’s founder and CEO and Mary’s Select is our newest gin variation that was created under her direction.

Process:

To produce Mary’s Select, Woody Creek Gin (at 50% alcohol by volume – abv) is put into a blending tank with 4 additional ingredients over the course of a week to steep (macerate), adding additional flavors and color.

Our 7 day maceration:

• Rhubarb is steeped for all 7 days
• Yuzu and Elderflower are added for the last 2 days
• Pea Flower blossoms are added for the final 24 hours

Filtration:

We filter out any particulate before bottling.

Dilution & Bottling:

Mary’s Select is brought down to 42% abv with Reverse Osmosis (RO) water for bottling.

Bottle Aging:

Because all our ingredients are natural, Mary’s Select will lighten in color over time.

Botanical Recap:

Citrus: We use peels (no pith!) from fresh lemons and oranges; then for an extra twist we add fresh whole limes, cut into eighths, to the steep.

Lemongrass: Our lemongrass comes to us fresh and local from Osage Gardens in Rifle CO.

Juniper: We use a blend of juniper, some dried European varieties and some hand picked local Rocky Mountain Juniper.

Coriander, Cinnamon, Angelica, Hibiscus, Grains of Paradise, Lavender, Cranberries, and Rose Hips.

Cocktails at home

Mary’s Martini

2 1/2 oz MARY’S SELECT GIN
1/2 oz DRY VERMOUTH
1-2 DASHES OF ORANGE BITTERS

Place martini glass in the freezer to chill.
Fill a mixing glass with ice.
Add Woody Creek May’s Select Gin, dry vermouth, and orange bitters
Stir for about 30 seconds until well chilled.
Strain into your icy cold martini glass.
